TGG Cares - 2021 Recap

Proudly Celebrating Another Year of Helping Organizations Across New England

The Granite Group's "TGG Cares" Committee was started in 2019 with a simple goal: find ways to give back to the communities we serve. This special committee features Granite Group team members from all over New England and 2021 was TGG Cares best year yet. According to TGG Cares Chair and People Experience Manger, Monica Apgar, 2021 was great, but they are just getting started: "We have had a fantastic year of digging into our communities and giving back. In 2021, the TGG Cares team really found their stride and as we roll into 2022, we look forward to finding ways to help everyone we can right here in New England".

Below are a few highlights from the TGG Cares 2021 campaign.

2021 Holiday Fundraiser to Benefit Boston's Children's Hospital:

Launched in November 2021, the TGG Cares Holiday Fundraiser benefited the "Every Child Fund" at Boston Children's Hospital (BCH). The "Every Child Fund" helps to fund critical services not covered by insurance, like housing for families traveling far away for care so they can focus on what matters most, caring for their sick child. BCH has helped several of The Granite Group's very own team members and their families.

For this fundraiser, we be accepted $10 Donations at all of our branches and online. Each of those donations gave someone one entry into a drawing for our Grand Prize which was a 65" Vizio 4K Smart TV. We also gave away an Apple iPad Air and two $100 VISA Gift Certificate Cards.

Every dollar donated was matched 100% by TGG Cares and when it was all said and done, over $10,600 was raised for this wonderful organization!

2021 "Buck-A-Mile" Summer Fundraiser:
33 Granite Group team members completed over 6,000 miles of running, biking, hiking and walking in our "Buck-A-Mile" Summer Fundraiser which ran from June 1st through - September 6 the and helped raise money for food banks hit hard by the pandemic.

Because of their efforts, we made six $1,000 donations to food banks in each of the New England States. Here are the Category Winners from our TGG team: Joe Peretti: biked 1,446 miles. Jacob Gilbert: ran 465.5 miles, Kevin Cunningham: walked 415.8 miles and Sydney Carter: hiked 56 miles. Each of these winners received a well-earned $100 gift card from TGG Cares.

Make-A-Wish New Hampshire - Emma Philbrick:
In addition to the $19,000 dollars we have raised for Make-A-Wish New Hampshire through our annual golf tournaments, we were honored to be part of the team helping Make-A-Wish New Hampshire grant a wish for Emma Philbrick, an 11-year-old from Londonderry whose wish is to be an author.

In January of 2020 (just a few weeks before the Pandemic hit), Team "Emma The Author" gathered at a Barnes & Noble in Manchester, NH to surprise Emma and her family with everything she will need to get her book rolling and published. That included a brand new Chromebook laptop we were more than happy to supply Emma to help with her efforts.

Emma got to work right away and the plan was to have a big red-carpet celebration for the launch of her book in the Summer of 2020. Unfortunately, COVID threw a monkey-wrench into that and future dates as well. Finally, in October 2021, Emma was able to have that big red-carpet celebration for her book, which is called "Arkivestia". On that day, we proudly presented Emma with a $500 check for her college fund. We are very excited about what the future holds for this brilliant young lady!
