Ranked as one of the top 40 Plumbing, Heating and PVF Wholesale Distributors in the United States, The Granite Group can trace its roots to Central Supply Company, which originated in 1901 on Waldo Street in Worcester, Massachusetts as a distributor of gas and steam engines and water supplies. Chairman Kevin Condron, along with his father-in law-William Kennedy, purchased Central Supply in October of 1971.
With little experience in the industry and one branch that generated two million dollars in annual sales, the pair caught on quickly and began growing the company through key acquisitions in the early 1970s and 80s that brought on new customers and product lines. In 1998, the business merged with Capitol Plumbing & Heating Supply, moved its headquarters to Concord, New Hampshire and rebranded as “The Granite Group”.
Bill Condron, now President and CEO of The Granite Group, joined the family business in 2001 with a warehouse job, working his way up to managing a branch and then eventually the entire company.
Under the watch of the Condron family and several key leaders including Bill Hilfinger and Joe Goff, The Granite Group has grown quite a bit since its early days on Waldo Street. Now in all six New England States, it turned its one branch back in 1971 into a 40 location, 500-plus employee operation with more than $250 million in annual sales. In addition to its wholesale Branch locations for professional tradespeople, The Granite Group features 16 Ultimate Bath Store Retail Showrooms, as well as a state-of-the-art, 210,000-square-foot Central Distribution Center in Londonderry, New Hampshire. In 2016, it launched the Granite Group “Online Store”, a best-in-class E-Business portal built specifically for its core customers.
