Description

A Shale Trap, also known as a Formation Packer, is used in well drilling to isolate and protect formations while preventing shale or other unwanted materials from entering the wellbore. It acts as a barrier between different geological formations, minimizing contamination and maintaining well integrity. The shale trap is typically set below the drill bit, creating a seal that helps control the flow of drilling fluids and ensures a clean and stable wellbore. Regular monitoring and maintenance of the shale trap are essential for effective well construction and fluid control in drilling operations. Our Shale Traps are designed with an indentation at the base of the trap in order to offer a seat for the Shale Trap Clamp when fastening the Shale Trap to the casing.
